Where are you Bobby Sherman?

1970, Anywhere USA

Giggling and girlfriends go together like bread and butter, peaches and cream, and toast and jam. Each ingredient is pleasing by itself, but put them together and you just can’t go wrong. Nothing can start the giggling like swooning over boys.

Swoon we did! It may have been the Age of Aquarius, but there was no lack of love for wholesome hunks in the heartland. Many an afternoon was whiled away as we flopped ourselves down on our pink chenille bedspreads, with the 45’s on the player, as we gazed upon our favorite fresh faced, shiny haired, pop icons with the pearly whites. Walls came alive as posters pulled from the pages of Tiger Beat were tacked and taped to every available inch of plaster. No room was complete without Bobby, David, and Donny.

Bobby Sherman was both a singing sensation and a TV star with a role in the hit TV series, Here Come the Brides.  He is alive and well and volunteering with the LAPD.

David Cassidy did prove that it can be cool to be on stage with your mom, with his role in The Partridge Family.  David continues to perform live in venues around the world.

Donny Osmond sprang onto the stage at the age of five and has been bringing the house down ever since.  His most recent success was to win the competition on  Dancing With the Stars.

How things  do change and yet they stay the same !  Newcomer Justin Bieber has adolescents across the globe swooning as he croons.

Thanks for reading Julie! We were so young! The video with the white fringe shirt really cracks me up. It is a good thing I did not see this back in the day or I would have been out looking for one. LOL.

What "grownup girl" doesn't like reminiscing about those idols of her past? In the early 70s I just knew David Cassidy and I would meet randomly on the street somewhere and he would fall madly in love with me. I believe our 40th Wedding Anniversary is approaching soon.
Jody, your article revived something in me so much that I went to Odds & Ends, a store downtown, this weekend and bought a Partridge Family LP! For $2 I can become a Fan Club Member.
Keep up the great job.

I had a blast researching this and watching the old clips and I have been humming the tune "I Think I Love You" for days now. It has added some pep to my step. Thanks for reading Rhonda!

J: remember the Monkeys?? I had a pal who was head over heels over one of them. (Forget their names) I too recall all the posters and of course remember Bobby Sherman.

This is great. I loved Bobby Sherman when I was 12 and playing the 45 records too. How many hours I spent listening to the same records. Oh, what a great time. I saw him in concert about 10 years ago and he was still as pretty as he was when he was younger.

Love your blog. I started my blog about turning 50 and learning to ice skate for the first time. 50 is a great year to look at life in a new way and get a do over.

Good for you Wantabe! Taking up a new sport such as iceskating is really quite a challenge and what a fun and interesting choice! I agree with you that this is a good time in our lives to reinvent ourselves a bit and to let loose of our fears and go for it!

Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4
year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She placed the shell
to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside
and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL
I know this is entirely off topic but I had to tell someone!
